Issuing & Returning Parts

Modified on Fri, Aug 23 at 2:50 PM

You can issue parts to an asset or work order in the SOMAX system. Issuing parts refers to the process of distributing these parts from inventory for maintenance, repairs, or assembly of machinery/assets. Being able to efficiently issue parts is important in minimizing asset downtime and improving inventory accuracy.

Returning parts, is the reverse, and involves moving a part that was issued to an asset or a work order back into inventory. This often happens when a mechanic does not use all of the parts they issued out for a work order. Returning unused Parts is critical in maintaining inventory accuracy and reducing overstocking of inventory parts.

Note that when you issue and return parts, SOMAX will automatically add or remove those part issued quantities from the part and asset's information. For example, if you issue a part to an asset, SOMAX will automatically add that part to the asset's information. If you would Not like SOMAX to automatically build your asset and part list, select No Asset/Part Cross Reference when editing the part or asset. For more help with this, see Linking Assets and Parts.
