This article describes how to edit a part's overview information.

Editing a Part's Information
- From the left menu select Inventory and then Parts.
- Select the part you would like to edit. This should direct you to the part overview page. If you cannot find your part, check your settings and filters. For more help, see Filtering and Viewing Parts.
- Scroll down to the part form fields and select Edit.
- Edit the part form fields as needed. For more information about each field, see the chart below. Please note that some fields are updated automatically and cannot be edited directly - this chart will only show the fields that can be updated.
- Select Save.
Part Form Fields
Field | Description |
---|---|
Description | Any details about the part. |
UPC Code | The barcode for tracking for the part. |
Account | Account that the part is linked to. |
Stock Type | Type of stock part this is generally a bearing would have a stock type of BRG |
Issue Unit | How this part is issued Ex: Each, Bag, Box or Gallon |
Manufacturer | The manufacturer for the part. |
Manufacturer ID | The manufacturer's ID. |
Critical | Designates if this is a critical part for the equipment. Helpful for filtering/sorting. |
No Asset Cross Reference | Checking this will signal to the SOMAX system not to automatically add assets when issuing parts. Helpful if you want to manually add assets to your part. See Linking Assets and Parts for more help. |
Location | Any details about where these parts would be located, such as their place area, section, row, shelf, bin. |
Count Frequency | Frequency for counting this part, the more critical the part the more often you should count it. |
Last Counted Date | The Last date a Physical Inventory was done on this part |
Maximum | The Maximum number of Parts you want to keep on hand |
Minimum | The Minimum number of Parts you want to keep on hand. This is the point where SOMAX determines that the Part should be ordered. (SOMAX uses at or below Minimum as a reorder point) |
Costs | Any details about the costs of the part. |
