Adding a New Part

Modified on Fri, Aug 23 at 2:20 PM

In SOMAX, a part is a component of a larger piece of Asset / Machinery. Depending on the Asset / Machinery that they make up, they can be:

  • gears
  • motors
  • circuits
  • bearings
  • belts
  • sprockets

This article will describe how to add a new part. For more information on parts see About Parts.

Creating a New Part

  1. Either select +Add New at the top left and then Parts or, from the left sidebar, select Inventory, then Partsthen New Part at the top left. The parts form fields should appear.
  2. Fill out the Part ID, Description, and Issue Unit in the form fields. These fields appear in red and are required, though you may also add other information such as the UPC Code, Account, Manufacturer, and more. The descriptions of these form fields are shown in the chart below.
  3. Select Save & Add Another if you would like to add multiple at a time, or Save if you would just like to add the one.
  4. The new part should be created and you should be directed to the parts overview page. For more help navigating its contents, see About Parts.
