Setting Up Custom Security Profiles

Modified on Tue, Aug 27 at 11:29 AM

Custom Security Profiles are available only to our Enterprise Customers

In SOMAX, a security profile determines how much access to the system a user has by designating and restricting specific functions. The SOMAX standard security groups cannot be modified. If you want to grant a user more or less access you will need to create a Custom Security Profile. You may not want to grant a user who performs cycle counts access to creating work orders and sanitation jobs these are permissions that you can grant in Custom Security Profiles.

For help with approval groups (and designating who can approve purchase, material, sanitation or work requests), see Setting Up Approval Groups.

This article describes how to set up your security profiles.

Setting Up Security Profiles

  1. From the left sidebar, select Configuration. This should direct you to the security profile dashboard.
  2. From the left sidebar select Custom Security Profiles. You should be able to view any security profiles from here. To edit them, select their ID.
  3. To add a new profile, select New Security Profile at the top right.
  4. Enter the profile's name (subject line) and description (brief description about the role).
  5. Select Save. This should direct you to the modules page.
  6. Here, you can edit what they can access and view in the system by selecting and unselecting the checkboxes next to each SOMAX module. Remember to select Save when finished.
  7. To edit their functions or reports, use the left menu to select Functions or Reports and repeat the process.

Below is a sample profile and what the modules page may look like.
