While a PM job may need to be performed at a certain interval, it realistically may not be able to be completed on the exact Date Scheduled for completion. This gap is know as calendar slack. Calendar slack is the number of days after it is Scheduled to be performed to the Date that it is Required to be performed.
Note that calendar slack is only available for calendar or meter based PMs.
For instance, if you have a quarterly PM that requires the equipment to be locked out in order to perform the work, you may want to build in some days for the mechanic to be able to complete the work order.
If the quarterly PM is scheduled for June 20th and the calendar slack is 5 days. The required date that the PM must be done by, then, is June 25th. The mechanic now has 5 days of calendar slack between June 20-25 to complete the PM work which can prove beneficial if the production schedule at a plant is constantly changing.
Calendar slack can be added directly into the PM's schedule. See below on how to add Calendar Slack.
