Editing a Work Order

This article describes how to edit a Work Orders information.

Editing a Work Order

  1. From the left menu, select Maintenance, then Work Order, then Search.
  2. Select the work order you would like to edit. This should direct you to the work order overview page. If you cannot find your work order, check your settings and filters. For more help, see Filtering and Viewing Work Orders/Requests.
  3. Scroll down to the work order form fields and select Edit.
  4. Edit the work order form fields as needed. For more information about each field, see the chart below. Please note that some fields are updated automatically and cannot be edited directly.
  5. Select Save.



Work Order Form Fields


FieldDescription
StatusThis is the status of the work order and it automatically filled by SOMAX based on the actions taken to create, schedule, approve, or complete a work order. For more help changing status, see:
ShiftWhat shift or time of day you scheduled the work order for.
TypeType of maintenance needed. Possible options can be created in the work order Lookup Lists.
DescriptionDetails about the work you would like completed
Down RequiredWhen this is Checked the Asset must be Down to perform the work
PriorityThis is the degree of risk associated with the asset you would like the work to be done on and the potential consequences there may be if the work is not completed.
AccountAccount the work order is charged to
Charge ToThe asset ID you would like the work to be done on.
Charge To NameThis is the name of the asset and updates automatically when you edit the Asset ID under the field "Charge To"
RequiredDate the work order is required to be completed by
Work StatusWhat needs to be done to progress the status (ie: Ready to be scheduled, waiting on parts)
Source TypeThe SOMAX type this work order was created from Ex: PM or Work Request
Scheduled Start DateThis is the date you scheduled the work order for. For more help, see:
Scheduled DurationEstimated time it will take to complete the work order
Failure CodeType of Failure that occurred for this work to be performed
Actual Finish DateThis the date of completion. For more help, see:

Completing a Work Order

Actual DurationHow long the work order actually took to complete.
