Adding an Asset

Modified on Fri, Nov 22 at 12:16 PM

In SOMAX, an asset is defined by a piece of equipment in your company. For example, they can be a physical piece of equipment, a location, or a vehicle, and can look like:

  • conveyor systems
  • assembly lines
  • pumps and valves
  • industrial ovens
  • mixers
  • trucks
  • forklifts

This article will describe how to create an asset. For more information on assets and how they relate to other SOMAX modules, see About Assets.

Creating an Asset

  1. Either select +Add New at the top left and then Assets or, from the left sidebar, select Maintenance, then Assets, then New Asset at the top left. The asset form fields should appear.
  2. Fill out the Asset ID, Name, Category, and Type in the form fields. These fields appear in red and are required, though you may also add other information such as the line, system, and more. The descriptions of these form fields are shown in the chart below.
  3. Select Save & Add Another if you would like to add multiple at a time, or Save if you would just like to add the one.
  4. The new asset should be created and you should be directed to the asset overview page. For more help navigating its contents, see About Assets.

Below is what the form fields should look like. Remember that the fields in red are required:
