Creating a Meter

A meter is a device used to monitor equipment health and performance through physical factors, such as hours of operation, number of units, or miles accumulated. These recordings can be used to trigger work orders or preventive maintenance.

This article should describe how to create a meter in the SOMAX system.

Creating a Meter

1. From the left sidebar, select Maintenance, then Preventive Maintenance, and then Meters.
2. At the top right, select Add New Meter.
3. Fill out the Meter ID and Meter Name. You may also select the units your meter is recording in.
4. Select Save & Add Another or Save.
5. You will be directed to the meter overview. From here, you can also select Edit to add the meter's Maximum Reading. 
   • Maximum Reading is where you record when the meter “turns over,” or when the number at which the meter goes from its maximum displayable number back to zero.  On a fork truck, for example, the odometer typically turns over at 99999, so that if it has 140,000 miles on it, the meter reads 40000.  You would enter 99999 in the Maximum Reading field.
