It is useful to reset meters when you:
- replace a meter
- acquire a new meter set to 0
- move a meter from one piece of equipment to another
- Enter an incorrect meter reading
Resetting a meter is important so that SOMAX can compensate and create a work order at the correct, new interval.
How Meter Readings work in PMs
Meter based PMs are based on the Meter Interval and the Meter Last Due on the PM Schedule record. If you enter a Meter Reading that exceeds the Last Due + the Interval SOMAX will generate a Work Order. When this happens the Meter Last Due on the PM Schedule record is set to the Last Reading you entered. If the Meter Reading was in error you can Reset the Meter Reading as shown below. When Resetting the Meter Reading the Meter Last Due on the PM Schedule record will be set to the Meter Reading you enter as the Corrected Meter Reading.

Resetting a Meter
- From the left sidebar, select Maintenance, then Preventive Maintenance, and then Meter.
- Select the ID of the meter you would like to reset.
- Select Action at the top right and then Reset.
