Why can I not Edit the Work Order Type on a PM Work Order?

Modified on Wed, Sep 25 at 3:42 PM

The work order type for a work order created from the PM Generator is not editable, as the type is set by the PM Schedule Record.

Your screen likely looks like this, with the grey form fields signaling that it is not editable:

To change the type, you must go back to the PM Job that generated it and change the work order's type in the PM Schedule records. That way, the next time the PM generator creates a work order it will have the desired work order type.

To do this, the description of the work order is likely the same for the PM job. In this case, the description is "Annual Conveyor PM," so to find the matching PM job, we would find the one that has a description of "Annual Conveyor PM."

Scroll down to the schedule record and select the 3 dots under the Action column for the correct record. Then select Edit.

Under Work Order Defaults is where you can edit the work order type:

If there is not an option to select the correct type, it is because the type does not exist in the PM Schedule Record Type Lookup List.

To edit lookup lists, you must go to Configuration, then Lookup Lists, and then from the dropdown menu at the top PM Work Types. From there you may add a new type.
