Formal planning can be very helpful with creating and scheduling work orders. This article describes how to schedule work orders or un-schedule work orders in a plan that is locked. To schedule work in a plan that is unlocked, see Scheduling Work Orders - Resource List Tab or Scheduling Work Orders - Resource Calendar Tab.
You can add a schedule to work orders or un-schedule work orders from the Plan Tab in Work Order Planning. However, it is much more convenient to update or move scheduled work from the Resource List Tab or the Resource Calendar Tab as the format for these pages are much easier to use. If a work order does not have a scheduled date they will not appear in the resource list or resource calendar as no resource has been assigned to them.
NOTE: Work Order Schedule Dates must be within the Work Order Plan's Start and End Dates.
Adding Schedules to a Work Order
- To access the planning module, from the left sidebar, select Maintenance, then Work Orders, then Planning.
- Select the ID of the plan you'd like to schedule. If you cannot find the plan, use the filters to broaden or refine your search.
- The plan should open under the planning tab. From the plan tab select the checkbox(es) of the work order(s) you'd like to schedule.
- From the ribbon menu, select Add Schedule
- From the popup schedule box, select the Assigned Person(s).
- Select the Schedule Date for the work to be performed on. Again, the schedule date must be within the Plan's Start and End Dates.
- Select Save.
Removing Schedules from a Work Order
NOTE: It is not necessary to remove a schedule if you want to re-schedule a work order. To simply re-schedule, you can follow the steps under the adding schedules instructions shown above.
- From the plan tab, select the checkbox(es) of the work order(s) you'd like to unschedule.
- From the ribbon menu, select Remove Schedule.
- From the popup warning, select Yes to confirm.
- A message will be displayed telling you the schedule has been removed.
