What is a Stock Out Adjustment?

Modified on Wed, Sep 25 at 11:41 AM

Note: When a Stock Our Adjustment occurs this means the Inventory quantity on hand is not great enough to satisfy the amount issued. Therefore you should count this part's inventory to ensure accuracy of the quantity on hand.

SOMAX creates an additional transaction when you try to issue more stock parts than the system has as a quantity on hand value. Shown below the part 001-023-0003 had a system quantity on hand of 3 the issuer had 4 to issue. The system will allow for this by creating a Stock Out Adjustment transaction for the difference between the system quantity on hand and the actual issue quantity. In the example below when the issuer tried to issue 4 of part 001-023-0003 SOMAX created a Stock Out transaction notifying you that a “Stock Out” occurred meaning you tried to issue more than the system has on hand. SOMAX then creates a “Stock Out Adjustment” of the difference between what you are issuing and what the system has as a quantity on hand. In this case the issuer had 4 to issue, the system had 3 on hand the difference was 1, SOMAX created a Stock Out Adjustment of 1 which allowed for the Part Issue of 4.

  1. Stock Out - tried to issue 4 on hand value of 3
  2. Stock Out Adjustment of 1 (4 - 3 = 1) to bring on hand equal to issue quantity
  3. Part Issue of 4
