Approving/Denying Work Requests

In SOMAX, a work request is created by any other requestor user and is Approved, Approved and Scheduled or Denied by an administrator or full user. If Approved, it becomes a work order in Approved Status, if Approved and Scheduled it becomes a Work Order in Scheduled Status.


This article focuses on how to navigate the approval workbench.

The Approval Workbench


To access, from the left sidebar select Maintenance, then Work Order, and then Approval. Below is what a default workbench may look like.



If you cannot find any requests or the one you are looking for, use the dropdown menus at the top to select Show All Assigned and change the date range you are viewing.



Approving or Denying a Work Request

  1. Use the checkboxes in the left most column of each request to select each request you would like to Approve, Approve and Schedule or Deny. 
    1. Note that you must Approve, Approve and Schedule or Deny in separate batches.
  2. To Approve and Schedule, use the dropdown menus and typing boxes to select the personnel you wish to assign the work to, the shift, the schedule date, and the estimated duration. 
    1. The Assigned User, Scheduled Date and Duration must be entered before you can Approve and Schedule a Work Request.
  3. Once you have set the Work Request(s) to Approve, Approve and Schedule or Deny, scroll down and select Approve or Deny.
