Preventive maintenance or PM as it is commonly called, is a proactive type of maintenance that is designed to prevent equipment failures and enhance its efficiency and lifespan. By using a regular preventive maintenance schedule, you can minimize asset downtime (and decrease work order costs) as you work to prevent and better prepare for unexpected failures.

Preventive Maintenance Jobs allow you to create Estimates. These Estimates include:
- Parts
- Labor
- Other
- Summary

Labor | Craft: Craft required for the Job Quantity: Number of Persons required for the Job Job Duration: Total time to complete the Job for the Craft ( 2 Craft for 2 hours would be a Job Duration of 2 hours) |
Other | Used for Other type of Charges Source: Internal - Internal source for the charge Source: External - External source for the charge (Example a Contractor) Vendor: Vendor providing the Charge Description: Description of what needs to be done Unit Cost: Cost per Unit of the work Quantity: How many Units are needed |

When the PM Job is Generated the Estimates are added to the generated Work Order under the Estimating Menu on the Work Order Detail page Left Menu as shown below.
